When the water level was really low a few years ago, you could see broken concrete with rusting but still sharp reinforced steel poles protruding. These were situated at the parts of the lake closest to the old power station. These are brown when covered with water and not easily visible, they could easily gash an arm or leg or go straight through a surf shoe, so be careful.

It’s about 8 miles around. There is a steep section (pusher my bike) and also a section along the main road which is fine but can be very busy. Scenery is stunning and the bridge across the lake is amazing. Definitely worth a visit, loved it.
