Foreign ministers from the G7 nations reached a deal on a joint statement aimed at showing unity on Friday that backed Ukraine's territorial integrity and warned Russia to follow Kyiv in accepting a ceasefire or face possible further sanctions.

Speaking after a meeting with counterparts in Canada, the Foreign Secretary said a ‘detailed statement’ would outline a joint position on the crisis.

G7 nations emphasised on Friday the need for robust "security arrangements" to ensure a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia, warning Moscow to follow Kyiv in agreeing a ceasefire or face further sanctions,
