One of two Iowa National Guard soldiers killed in an attack Saturday in central Syria has been publicly identified by family members, while the Iowa National Guard has not yet officially released the names of the fallen service members.

Two U.S. service members and one U.S. civilian were killed Saturday after an ambush by an ISIS gunman in central Syria, U.S. Central Command said.

It said that two members of Syria’s security force and several U.S. service members were wounded and rushed by helicopters to the Tanf garrison near the border with Iraq and Jordan.
