The Liberals are projected to win more of Parliament’s 343 seats than the Conservatives, though it wasn’t clear yet if they would win an outright majority, which would allow them to pass legislation without needing help.

The incumbent Liberal Party secured a fourth term in power after a major turnaround in fortunes, aided by President Donald Trump’s trade war and threats to annex Canadian territory.

The party hasn’t so far reached a parliamentary majority, while Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre looks set to lose his seat.
