Officials say the largest fire is happening in Uwharrie National Forest in Montgomery County, with about 300 acres burned, according to the United States Forest Service. The wildfire is called the Falls Dam Fire and is located west of Moore County. Other active wildfires happening in the state include the following:

"Red flag warnings persist bringing gusty winds, low relative humidity, dry fuels and shifting winds. Firefighters are working to contain the fires throughout the following forests and districts," says the U.

The National Weather Service issued advisories on Sunday from Georgia to New Jersey warning of an increased risk of wildfires.

Brush fires that erupted amid dry and windy conditions caused officials in both North and South Carolina to order evacuations Saturday. A fire in North Carolina's Polk County has burned between 400 to 500 acres and was at zero containment,

The blazes were fueled by gusty winds, dry air and unusually high temperatures. The largest fire was burning 1,600 acres near Myrtle Beach on Sunday.
