The National Weather Service has issued tropical storm and coastal flooding warnings for parts of Virginia and the D.C. area.

Warm and sunny weather is expected in Washington D.C. this week, interspersed with possible showers and thunderstorms.

The National Hurricane Center warned that roads in the low-lying barrier islands will become impassable, with waves of 15 to 20 feet crashing ashore.
