With geopolitical risks rising, the United States is looking to fortify its domestic energy industry, and one key part of this is expanding its nuclear energy abilities. Nuclear energy is appealing because it has zero emissions, is highly efficient, and provides reliable base-load power.

The Department of Energy will announce an initiative to build out the nation's nuclear fuel supply chain as interest in the emissions-free power source grows.

The Trump administration excludes advanced nuclear power reactors from excessive National Environmental Policy Act requirements.

The technology was “used in place of a large team that would be required for coding and development of emergency services facilitation,” according to DOE’s AI inventory.

The new rules apply to nuclear reactors built on Department of Energy property, which includes several currently being developed by startups.
