Sunday was expected to be the biggest travel day of the Thanksgiving holiday weekend at O'Hare International Airport, and the winter storm​ that socked the area this weekend has been more than disruptive.

A ground stop was issued at O'Hare International Airport on one of the busiest travel days of the Thanksgiving holiday.

The conditions prompted the Federal Aviation Administration to halt landings and departures at O'Hare Airport from around 8:45 a.m. until 10 a.m. After the ground stop expired, a ground delay was put in place until 9 p.m. Departing flights from O'Hare are experiencing average delays of 68 minutes, according to the FAA.
