Over the course of October 12 through the 13, the Northeast had been bracing for a rough patch of weather thanks to a Nor’easter blowing through. While rainstorms are sporadically hitting, a consistent issue of high-speed winds and flooding has left some stuck in transit at major airports.
A nor’easter is whipping parts of the Mid-Atlantic coast with strong winds and heavy rain as it pushes into New Jersey on Oct. 13, according to the National Weather Service, which refers to the phenomenon as a “coastal low."
Amid the shutdown, there has been a shortage of air traffic controllers at various sites, including a facility in Fort Worth. While staffing shortages don't necessarily cause delays in every instance, a Texas airline has alerted staff about possible impacts.
