BHP Group flagged on Friday a delay and a cost overrun of up to $1.7 billion at its key Jansen potash project in Canada, while the world's largest listed miner logged record copper and iron ore output in fiscal 2025.

BHP (NYSE:BHP) said early Friday it racked up annual copper production above 2M metric tonnes for the first time but guided for lower output next year, while also warning of delays and cost increases for the giant Jansen Stage 1 potash project it is building in Saskatchewan.

BHP has worked for over a decade to enter the potash market, citing similarities in scale and costs to its iron ore business that has delivered the majority of its revenue for decades.
