Gov. Jared Polis is calling for the resignation of Pueblo Coroner Brian Cotter following the discovery of decomposing human remains at Davis Mortuary.
“The Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies’ (DORA) Division of Professions and Occupations recently conducted an annual inspection at Davis Mortuary, located at 128 Broadway Ave in Pueblo,” a release by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) read. “As a result of that inspection, Davis Mortuary has been issued a summary suspension.

The owner told inspectors that some of the bodies found at his funeral home had been waiting to be cremated for years.
Colorado state inspectors discovered roughly 20 decomposing bodies stashed in a hidden room of a funeral home manned by a county coroner, according to authorities. The corpses were found on Wednesday in a room behind a door that was concealed by a cardboard display during an inspection of Davis Mortuary in Pueblo.
