Some Republicans have criticized AmeriCorps as a waste of taxpayer money for failing 8 government audits. In response to the DOGE cuts, Republican Ashley Hinson voiced support for the AmeriCorps mission - but said she also wants to ensure taxpayer dollars are respected.

The cuts impact 22 year-round AmeriCorps members, along with six individuals who were weeks away from starting summer contracts.
