The U.S. dollar struggled near four-year lows on Wednesday after President Donald Trump brushed off its recent weakness, exacerbating greenback selling and lifting the yen, euro and sterling ahead of the Federal Reserve policy decision.

Hours after saying that he might “de-escalate” an aggressive ICE crackdown in Minnesota, Trump portrayed those arrested by federal agents there as “hardened, vicious, horrible criminals.”

Trump has moved to change course by dispatching his border czar, Tom Homan.

"I want a very honorable and honest investigation," Trump said.
