Reviews from Americans on President Donald Trump’s second term are mixed to negative, and 57 percent say he has exceeded his authority since taking office.

Trump’s mass deportation effort was the only one of eight policies in a Washington Post-Ipsos poll that the majority of Americans said they approve of.

The question of “mental sharpness” has also been in the spotlight since former President Joe Biden took office in 2021. At the time, Biden was the oldest president to be sworn in on Inauguration Day, but Trump broke that record last month at being sworn in at 78 years old.

Another Gallup report showed Trump’s job approval on the economy at 42%, though there were stark partisan differences in that survey. Ninety percent of Republicans in the Gallup poll approved of Trump’s handling of the economy, compared to 31% of independents and just 5% of Democrats.
