In May 2024, Usyk handed Fury his first career loss by split decision to spoil a career 34-0-1 record. Usyk won the rematch in December. By claiming a unanimous decision, Usyk retained the WBA, WBO and WBC heavyweight championships in the fight held in Saudi Arabia.
Fury claimed retirement in 2013 after a match against David Haye fell through only for him to fight once more in February 2014, when he finished American boxer Joey Abell via technical knockout (TKO). He later called it quits in 2017 in the midst of a near three-year layoff before returning in 2018.
