Hurricane Erin is moving away from the U.S. East Coast after brushing the Carolinas with tropical storm-force winds and moderate storm surge. Connecticut has largely missed out on Erin's impacts, although minor coastal flooding up to two feet of inundation is possible in low-lying areas along the shoreline this evening.

On Thursday, Hurricane Erin was several hundred miles off the coast of North Carolina and pushing storm surge and deadly rip currents toward the shore. Three other systems may form right behind.
