Athletes, coaches and spectators returned to the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center on Sunday to resume the national competitive cheerleading event that was derailed the day before after police say a fight between two people triggered a frenzied evacuation.

The DPD did say that many people suffered non-life-threatening injuries during the mass exodus from the convention center. Though there was no active shooter, the loud bang from the poles falling down was convincing enough for cheerleaders and their families to run for their lives – causing a dangerous stampede.

Dallas police said the events following a fight caused many people to mistakenly believe there was an active shooter at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Center on Saturday.
