The storm headed our way has the hallmarks of the deadly one that hit in January 2024. Here's what to know about snow, ice and cold.
We are a few days out, so expect changes, but a wintry system is likely to push into the lower Ohio River and Tennessee River Valley with a mix of snow/ice chances.
Given the potential for an impactful winter storm, take this time to prepare. Purchase an ice scraper, snowbrush, and/or snow shovel if you don’t have one already, just to have on hand. Consider your plans for next weekend and how they might need to change if this winter storm materializes for the Midstate.
The season’s most extreme storm so far is set to lash the eastern half of the United States with damaging ice and heavy snow late this week. It’s all being fed by a brutal blast of Arctic air that’s bringing the season’s coldest air to date.
A weak storm system will move into the region Wednesday, bringing our next chance for precipitation. Early morning flurries and brief snow showers are possible before the system transitions to mostly rain in the afternoon.
