Several state legislatures have introduced bills requiring the Ten Commandments to be displayed in public schools.

The state law had said public schools would have to display the Ten Commandments in a “conspicuous” location in every classroom in Texas by Sept. 1.

The state of Arkansas is appealing a federal judge's decision to issue a preliminary injunction in a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of a law requiring the Ten Commandments be posted in public schools and the judge's refusal to dismiss the lawsuit for lack of jurisdiction.
