An unfounded active shooter report at Villanova University was a hoax that led to a large police response and a temporary lockdown.

Police responded Thursday to a report of an active shooter on the Villanova University campus.

The initial report sent police scouring the campus in search of the shooter and even had some law enforcement officials suggesting they believed there was a shooter.
