One of two Russian tourists who died during a scuba diving activity near Verde Island in Batangas was attacked by sharks, the Philippine Coast Guard confirmed yesterday.

The disaster occurred late Friday after heavy rain and snowfall in the Sarmory area of the province's Gizab district, said Zamir Ahmad, provincial director of culture and information.
