In addition to Tropical Storm Fernand, forecasters are monitoring a tropical wave approaching the chain of islands in the far eastern Caribbean.

Tropical Storm Fernand strengthened Sunday over the open Atlantic Ocean well east of Bermuda. The Miami-based National Hurricane Center reported Fernand was located some 320 miles (515 kilometers) east of Bermuda by late Sunday.

Tropical Storm Fernand is forming near Bermuda with 40 mph sustained winds. This storm will not make any impact on land as it stays out in the Atlantic. There’s another area we’re watching for development that’s currently about 200 miles east of the Windward Islands.
