NEW YORK — Venus Williams has started her first Grand Slam match in two years on Monday night at the U.S. Open , facing 2023 French Open runner-up Karolina Muchova in Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Daniil Medvedev ended his Grand Slam season with a 6-3, 7-5, 6-7 (5-7), 0-6, 6-4 defeat to Benjamin Bonzi on Sunday evening at the US Open. The Russian began his year by rallying from two-sets-to-one down to defeat then-world number 418 Kasidit Samrej at the Australian Open.
