NEW YORK — Airyn De Niro, whose parents are Oscar-winning actor Robert De Niro and former model, actor and restaurateur Toukie Smith, has come out as a trans woman. The self-described “late bloomer” spoke about her transgender experience in an exclusive interview published Tuesday.

The 29-year-old, whose mother is actress and model Toukie Smith, opened up to Them in an interview published Tuesday, saying she was "grateful" for her parents' attempts at normalcy in her youth.

In a statement, he told Variety how he feels about his child, whom he shares with Toukie Smith, being transgender. “I loved and supported Aaron as my son, and now I love and support Airyn as my daughter. I don’t know what the big deal is,” he said. “I love all my children.”
