If you have been following our videos about our print shop exhibit at the Sacramento History Museum, we often print woodcuts and electrotypes (copies of woodcuts) from the Lewis Winter Collection. Lewis Winter had a wood and photo engraving business at 627 J Street in Sacramento from 1888 to 1910. We know that many of his cuts were used in ads in local newspapers and catalogs. All we have in the collection are the cuts themselves, and not any records of their use. It is through our own research
