8th January 1815 Battle of New Orleans. The battle was the culmination of an attempt against the city that had been ongoing since Dec 1814, with this action occurring once peace had been signed (but before it was ratified) unbeknownst to those involved. The US position was a defended parapet on the east Bank of the Mississippi running along the Rodriguez Canal and secured at the other end by an impassable woodland.
