I still remember when @thegreatnate888 told me about this long ago - a favorite oddity story of the area. During the middle of the 20th century, Syracuse China dumped their pottery shards and rejects along the eastern shore of the lake to provide landfill in an effort to stop extensive erosion of the shoreline.
